How was your week?

In the words of Johnny Cash, I’ve been everywhere, including the World Series! Feeling very lucky.

On this week’s AMA, I’m talking about two of my favorite things on earth: stone crab claws and Asian noodles. Plus, how to get 30% off your Shun Knife purchase.

What are you making this weekend?

If yesterday’s chit-chat taught you anything, it’s that the day the calendar turns the page to November, I am hyper-focused on Thanksgiving. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I will do this year’s bird. Here are 6 ways I’ve cooked turkey in the past. From fried to braised, roasted to a stuffed breast (pictured below and the perfect solution for what to feed a smaller group), which looks best to you? All the recipes are on my website.

This Week’s Questions:

From Denise:
Can we talk Stone Crab Claws??? One of my all-time favorite sea-food treats, and I just saw a post that my local spot is getting their first batch in this week! (lucky to live near Supreme Lobster) so I’m curious…I’ve had them at Joe’s in Chicago / perfection! And a few times in Florida. What’s your favorite spot to eat these lovelies? Also…I’ve never made them myself, it’s a pricey gamble. But it’s pretty tempting knowing they are arriving fresh daily just blocks away… any tips to prepare at home? Any preference on size?

Where I like to eat stone crab claws… Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami.

From Michael:
Hi, I have a question about Asian noodles. I would love to be able to make Asian noodles at home -- you know, the kind that don't disintegrate in hot broth.  I'm not going to make them from scratch, but I saw or read somewhere that you can basically convert pasta into an Asian-style consistency by adding alkaline to the cooking water.  But google isn't helpful on this. Amazon sells alkaline noodles but not alkaline FOR noodles. Is this doable and, if so, what should I buy?
