Ask Me Anything: *Some* of My Favorite Filipino Dishes
Also on this special weekend edition of AMA, I talk about woks, disc golf and '80s movies.
Hello and happy Saturday! It’s been such a crazy week, between the Beard Awards and lots and lots of travel. We’ll try to get back on schedule next week. We usually post AMAs on Fridays, and if you subscribe, you can ask me questions in the comments (or on Notes).
In honor of our 100th post, we’re offering a special deal: Half off for a one-year subscription!
You really can ask me anything. I’ve answered questions about school lunches, good things to eat in Copenhagen, even haggis.
As promised, here’s the link to Moshe Olive Oil from La Boîte. It’s spectacular.
This week’s questions
Ramsy:
I’m not surprised to see the [Beard Awards] judges rejecting European or Westernized flavors in favor of Asian countries. What’s your favorite Filipino dish? Or Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese or any other Asian country perhaps?
Denise
While in our beautiful city this week...are you going to make the Dead show at Wrigley Field at end of the week?? 🎶
Deborah:
Love this Billi Bi recipe but my husband is not a curry fan. With everything else the same can you recommend another spice or flavoring to use in this recipe?
Jeanne:
What brand and where did you get your wok that you use for the Hong Kong Style Soy Sauce Noodles, please?
Jon:
If you could combine your food stuff with disc golf practice rounds and disc reviews your channel would be literal perfection.
Brian:
What brand of olive oil do you use Andrew?
Kel:
Favorite ‘80s movies. Go.
Jake:
Hey Andrew, the James Beard Awards are just around the corner. My wife and I went last year and had such a fantastic experience that we're going back again this year! What are you most excited about at this year's awards celebration?
Tony:
I am probably not the first, but you said a couple of times that the Federal Budget is 1.2 Billion and I think you meant 1.2 TRILLION so your rounding error comment would then make sense...
I had sisig from a food truck in Valdez, Alaska and am still chasing that delicious high. Bummer Valdez is so far away 😂
You never have to apologize for any brain "farts." What I (and I bet LOTS of your fans) love is that Spilled Milk is unscripted. Your loveable off the cuff style is what we love and you are hereby granted immunity for any farting!
