A travel-and-food-focused column might as well throw down a “best eats” list once in a while.
So here’s mine. This is a list off the top of my head of restaurants in 40 “cities” where I’d eat one meal if that’s all I had time for. Don’t get irked, it’s just a list, incomplete and personal.
Yes, I know, I only picked one restaurant in the Philippines and didn’t pick one for Manila. And then listed five or six places in Hong Kong. And skipped several Italian cities and so, so many places in Africa and South America, but miraculously remembered some places in Sydney I adore. Apologies to hundreds of restaurants I dine in on the regular in cities all across this country. I listed many markets, souks, etc., too. Maybe I need to write up a global guidebook and take this more seriously? Thoughts??
As many of you know, I am a New Yorker and may wonder why I chose the three NYC restaurants I did. Well, those three restaurants have been dined in by four generations of Zimmerns, which is pretty cool if you ask me.
Where are your favorites? Maybe we’ll run a Part Two next week.
Now I am really hungry, BTW ….
