We all know the saying: You get what you pay for.
Sometimes this is true. Sometimes it isn’t.
Some people don’t think good caviar, real copper cookware, or a $500 chefs knife warrants the price tag.
We’re in a recession, people are watching their spending, and it’s hard to know what “things” are really worth the money. Obviously, this is a personal issue, and one person’s budget-busting moment has zero appeal to someone else.

Case in point: Someone recently asked me if all the hype around YETI coolers is warranted. As a chef who travels with perishable food all the time, I can say that yes, they are worth the money.
I have several of their products, including a HUGE cooler I purchased over a decade ago. (And yes, I spent MY OWN MONEY on this stuff.) I’ve taken this thing, packed with food, on dozens of flights (Raw meat? Yes. Fresh fish? Yep). It has never let me down. It can withstand wear and tear from baggage handlers AND flight delays— and in my business, that’s the kind of dependability I need. And a big bonus: I’ve never had to replace it, which is not true of coolers I’ve had in the past.
It’s also the cooler I pack for camping weekends (they have a new one with wheels, which is my next purchase). Ice will last in this thing for 48 hours, no problem. And it keeps hot food hot as well.
I also love their tumblers and totes. While totes are great for beach and boat days, I actually loving using mine when we have guests over as a beverage holder— fill it with ice, stuff sodas, waters, beer and wine in there, and let guests grab as needed. It’s not the intended way to use it, but works like a charm AND doesn’t sweat like a metal bin.
YETI is worth every penny.
So, I have to ask:
A vibrator is definitely worth the money...wait is this supposed to be food/kitchen related?
Shoes, Jewelry, Leather Bags, (I’m a Coach girl) Perfume (Coco by Chanel 🖤) That goes for the guys as well…no crappy cologne, wearing nothing! Is better than crappy!! I would rather have 1 quality of any of the above than 100 mediocre items.
I agree with quality cooler as well, but Yeti has not won me over yet. Other food related stuff; Knives, my Kitchen-aid that is at least 25 years old (but I’m willing it to die because I want that cool new clack dimpled one 🖤🖤🖤) I adore my Chantel enamel pieces, tea pot & stock pots… I am currently obsessing over Weber’s ridiculously overpriced special anniversary kettle grills. So many actual food items, someone mentioned butter… omg, French Butter!
Sweet Melissa….no words…I was going to say you were my hero, but then you dropped that bombshell 💣 now I’m just hoping you’ve been diligently scouring the internet for that special “self care” gift.
