Hello, girl from Miami here. Stone Crab season is always from Oct. 15-May 15! I love them! I remember, many years ago you could visit Everglades City and Chokoloskee Bay. The last time I was there, I was in my mid-30s. That was the best place to go for great day trips on the weekends and kayak along the shores of the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge. There was a seafood store there were you could purchase the claws right off the boat at nearly wholesale prices. After spending a day out kayaking, I would hit the store and buy a huge bag full, place them in the cooler and head back home to feast.

Some of the finest minimalist artwork background I've seen recently, and your T-shirt, did you lose a bet with Molly?? Your quote, "In the words of Johnny Cash, I’ve been everywhere (man)... I sent you a parody, reworded to create a Minnesota culinary version, where the refrain is changed to, "I've eaten everywhere man, I've everything man", yada-yada... I sent it a couple times, with no response, so I sent it to Molly and she thought it was pretty cool and amusing... You have many musician friends you, your crew and music pals could be really slick and amusing video. It could be a small holiday gift for one of the nights of Hanukkah and/or a stocking stuffer for Christmas??

One of my best friends and former pro tennis doubles and 8 years catering partner, moved to Palm Beach, to help his parents who reside in West Palm Beach. He came back to Milwaukee a couple weeks ago with 8 pounds of fresh jumbo stone crabs, thus I have 3 of the 4 pounds in my freezer. The AMA sparked my palette, and they're now thawed ready to steam and enjoy while watching Big 10 football all day and the World Series game 6 tonight..

Stone crabs steamed in chanti and your Tuscan blend and the same to wash it down (w/o the blend) while surfing Big 10 football... Checkout the games, there are 4 more rivalry games. FYI, the Gophers just beat Nebraska 20-13.... Hope you're enjoy your weekend ~ Ciao...

I thought I was craving them when I asked the question…. Now multiply that by 100 after crab claw chat! 😂

I was aware of how the single claws are being removed , but did not realize that they were being fully cooked when they got steamed. Sold! This will definitely hold me over till I can get to Mecca.

Time to whip up a lil mustard dipping sauce !!

You want to talk Asian noodles? I’m going to be bold and tout one of our local Pittsburgh restaurants. “ Everyday Noodles,” a Taiwanese-style noodles restaurant in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill district, may be the best noodle restaurant in the U.S. You can watch as noodle experts stretch and slap the noodles and make other delicacies.“Everyday Noodles” specializes in Soup dumplings, hand stretched noodles, potstickers and soups. The line to eat there is always long stretching down the sidewalk. Our daughters live in Chicago and they’ve tried to find a comparable restaurant there and in other cities, but they haven’t found one as good. Next time you are in Pittsburgh, see if you agree.

I think I wasn't clear in how I asked the question. I found a good article on transforming pasta into Asian-style noodles. Turns out the simple answer is baking soda. I'm going to give this a go. So...after your arm is pulled off at "precisely the correct point", you aren't in misery, but are thrown back into society and will grow another arm in a year to go through the same ordeal again? We are not "crops" and neither is a this crab. It's a being. I'm done.

OK, you lost me when you said the claw is pulled off as the crab is alive, then tossed back into the water. Why do humans do things like this for so called "pleasure eating"?? We do not NEED stone crab claws. If people continue to WANT them, then the crab should be put out of it's misery by the usual way of hot, boiling water (which I don't like the idea of either). The both claws can be removed resulting in not as many crabs need to be killed, and people can still enjoy the taste.....if they WANT. This is double edge sword, I know, but humans go way beyond what is necessary for their "wants" in life. This is one that should be stopped. I will never eat a stone crab claw.
