There are alot of things better than my Mom's cooking, foremost my Dad's cooking (grad from Cordon Bleu), and got me interested in the Culinary Arts as a young kid... I can imagine that your Soupe à l'Oignon des Halles Gratinée crashed your site.... because it's out-of-sight MAGNIFIQUE.!!! If I had to choose only 1 soup, it would be your version and/or Julia Child's versions... Interesting and coincidental, for I use a veal demi-glace when I make yours, Julia used as well in her versions, either with cognac or vermouth....

Btw: Based on how Mr. Furious's cooking method for venison, I'm surprised he made it more than once???

Two questions. One seems to have an obvious answer , but I’m looking to see if there is an out. Four ears of corn in my fridge have turned totally black on the cobs . Play it safe and discard, or can they be used in some way? For those of us who don’t have the 72 hours or the resources to make a good veal stock, what is the best way to reinforce boxed broth to get a good approximation of veal stick?

I love my mom, don’t get me wrong, but I’m a better cook than she is. She knows it too, and loves when I come cook for her. We have a simple recipe pulled from a newspaper many years ago called Deep Dish Tacos. I will post it on Twitter after my meeting.

Randomly discovered about popping various grains when I meant to just toast some…forgot about them then heard the rapid popping in the oven. A happy & yummy accident. (A far better experience than when I forgot about the chestnuts & they full on exploded! 😬)

Love the connection & emotion when you speak about the comfort food of your mom & GMA. 🧡 That is what I feel with every episode of WGK, the setting takes me back to vacations with my dad & family as a kid, always by the lake, always fishing, and the food…my Grandpa introduced me to duck, pheasant, (foods my mom would say were for the adults 😂) of course his cookery was quite different, but he would tend his grill with whatever he had on it, for hours and sneak me tastes as he told endless stories.

Love bringing up those memories.
