London is very fun, very lucky I've visited and always had a memorable time. Even driving a Manual in Britain, long time dream I've finally done! Just a Big City mixed with the 'Old' as well. Great food all around, as well as walking and taking everything in along the Thames. The times I've been there, I would recommend the "Indian Quay" area, east of Parliament, not far from the O2 arena. The station is "Canary Wharf", easy ride on their 'Underground' subway system, pretty much like a Financial area, with nice restaurants and a couple of small indoor malls nearby. For coffee drinkers, I would recommend "Caffe Nero", just a nice regular place for coffee, sort of a chain I've seen throughout London.
I just got back from a trip to the Cayman Islands (I won a sales trip at work!) Required a proctored COVID-19 test to get in and out of there. My only regret is that Blue by Eric Ripert (at the Ritz) wasn't open. Otherwise, I would have gone!
Thanks for the great info, especially on the Play Airlines! I just returned yesterday from New Orleans for the Jazz Fest. I thought of you, Andrew, because there was a girl walking through the airport with big, fuzzy, house slippers on. Anyway...hoping to go to Brussels next.
I’ve been in Paris for over a week, with 2 more to go. It feels back to normal, except for optional masks around. I brought self-test kits with me because I’m around a lot of friends. Tested 2x negative, so far. I’m going to London and the Cotswolds again in July. My last visits to both countries was in 2019. I feel fortunate.
I have champagne tastes, and an occasional beer pocketbook. Thus, I would wholeheartedly suggest you try The Golden Chippy in Greenwich. I will go on record as it being the BEST Fish & Chips I have ever tasted. More importantly, it is very reasonably priced. I will be going back there in October.
I had my 50th birthday lunch at St John and my birthday dinner at Gymkhana two years ago and am still thinking about what a great day it was.....I have sent many people to Gymkhana and it doesn't disappoint!
I am actually heading to London and Edinburgh this Tuesday, so your tips could not have come at a better time. I will be knocking out some Michelin stars at both The Fat Duck and at The Library and Reading Room at Sketch. My "tour guide" has us booked at a vegetarian Indian restaurant on the West End before a show, and the Duck and Waffle for breakfast. I'll be watching this thread for more tips. Thanks again--this thread couldn't have been more timely!

Don't miss a proper tea. Brown Hotel is fab.
Not traveling this summer due to no income. But thought Spring near Covent Garden (chef: Skye Gyngell) was one of my top 10 favorite meals.

Coolio issue!
All the places sound delicious. Haven't been but I've learned over my 71 years never say never. Thank you Andrew for all the info. God Bless.
It's London. Lunch at Sweetings with several Black Velvets and whitebait.

Chishuru chef/owner Joké is not a he, she's a she!
Never been to London before (only been to Europe once so far), and these options are a good incentive to look into making a trip.
