This isn't about the current Miami scene, but I thought I'd tell it just to show how far we have come in prices and inflation. In 1971, I was a college sophomore and me and my best friend took a Summer golf trip to Miami. We took advantage of a 'Special' week that the Doral Golf & Country Club was running then. It was a 7-night stay in their lodge at the country club that included use of all their amenities that included huge pool and multiple tennis courts (including some of the very few clay courts in the country), a round of golf including cart each day on one of their five 18 hole courses, and breakfast and dinner each day in the country club dining room (which served some very good high end meals prepared by their chefs...to this day, I've had no better pastry than the prune danishes they put out). Price for the week for one individual? $175.00
While most of the restaurants on this list are good choices, I feel like you should have focused more on the mom and pop restaurants that we have in our city that would have benefited from the recognition and are amazing. The restaurants on this list already have the recognition (celebrity chef run) and the traffic. A few examples are: La Fresa Fracesa in Hialeah, The Pasta Market in Miami, Via Verde in Miami, Lung Yai Thai Tapas in Miami, Sushi Erika in Miami, Doce Provisions in Little Havana. Unfortunately, tourists tend to stick to Wynwood, Sobe..
