I start every road trip with John Denver’s Country Roads. Traveling as a kid with my family, JD was one of the only artists we could agree on. I still love my 70’s music.
The sound of tires whirring along the road, window half open, wind whipping against the glass.....or driving into the sunset or moon rising...Carlos Santana...but mostly the song of the road itself. Miss it.
Please, Google the song 'Honey' which is so beautiful that it makes me cry every time I hear it. Bobby Goldsboro's sweet voice makes it even more beautiful!
I'm not sure if I have a song or songs, if I'm driving with Friends, I let them pick or plug in whatever they want! We all sing along regardless (if we call it 'singing')! If solo driving, I usually do the 'Seek' on the Local Radio of whatever the Town I'm driving thru. Always fun for me to hear the local Call Letters, DJs and Commercials as well. It adds to part of the trip too...!
David Bowie....FAME (my all-time favorite song.) And of course I love Sweet Melissa by the Allman Bros! Depends what mood I'm in, what the scenery is, what kind of traffic I'm in, but love anything 70's, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Vivaldi, BB King, K.D. Lang, too many to list and I don't want to bore the audience...
"The Bottom Line" Big Audio Dynamite (Original 12" UK Remix @ 8:40) I have a lot of the same artists on my road trip playlist as AZ, just different songs. Great list, AZ!
A Tribute to Andrew Zimmern... so AZ, I posted comment in regards to playlists & favorite road trip song?? The other song I mentioned was "I've Been Everywhere Man" by Johnny Cash... Hoping you'll be amused...
I thought you & your crew would have a ton-of-fun do'in-it… just a thought, you’ve probably been to all mentioned… + a hundreds more… (original) <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov4epAJRPMw>
So here's the rewrite that's Minnesota focused... so here goes...
AHhhhhh such is Life, huh... Hey Simone, have a terrific 4th of July & the long weekend that comes with it... BTW: Is that a New England, Rhode Island or Manhattan clam chowder...?? I a Manhattan guy, Rhode Island sometimes for a change, yet New England a little heavy for me... also huge French Onion, along with a great Pea soup person too.... Cheers & best regards...
NO doubt... impossible for me and I think anyone... I have a few flash drives as well... again, enjoy your long 4th weekend.... SOooo a toast to AZ & Simone...Cheers & Bottoms-Up....
Andrew, you've asked 2 questions... like you, Sirius/XM & my playlists from Amazon, plus I too have several playlists, it depends where I'm venturing off to, N. S, E, W, NE, NW, SE, SW, E-Coast & W-Coast; then one has to consider "How many days the road trip is??"...
I did peruse your playlist... it was from 2014, thus you must have a few newer playlists for when you're cruising to 'Family Dinners" or 'Zimmern List' should of generated newer playlists...I hope??
SOooo, I have 2 types of Playlists... First is comprised of a single musician and/or w/ group, for they have scads of Billboard Hits such as... Springsteen & E Street Band / Jagger & Rolling Stones / Sling & Police / Bob Dylan / David Byrne & Talking Heads / Led Zeppelin / Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Individually & Group / Neil Simon + Simon & Garfunkel, etc....
Second are multiple artist, yet similar genre, INXS / Flock of Seagulls / Thompson Twins / Culture Club, etc. / ELO-Electric Light Orchestra / Huey Lewis & the News / Bruce Hornsby, etc. so on....
That should cover question #1... Now for the real challenge question, "What’s your favorite road trip song?".. For that answer, I believe we need to outline the parameters, of which there 2... thus, 1 Song only, and it plays on a continuous loop for the complete duration of the road trip...
A drumroll please... "Born To Run" by Bruce 'The Boss' Springsteen & the E Street Band, the extended-play version... all day & night based on the question...
I've road tripped a lot in my younger years, 43 years past. I was a nationally top rank collegiate tennis player, then onto the pro circuit for a few years... back then a lot of east coast, southern and southwest tournaments... Thus, the other song was "I've Been Everywhere Man" by Johnny Cash... The group of players I traveled with loved this song.. Reason, with all the tiny, towns, big cities, we'd substitute the various towns & cities we stopped at for gas/snacks, drove through and of course, the tournament cities... We all had a GAS.!! it was totally amusing, so that song by Cash brings back tons of laughs, smiles and other fantastic memories...
Andrew, you've NOT answered your own question... "What’s your favorite road trip song?"... SOooo hit us subscribers and apeas our curiosity, s'il vous plaît...
Always best regards, stay well, and get some rest, your birthday is 3 dayz away.... take care Andrew...
Wow ... interesting list ... I did see The Clash on there ... I still have my HOUSE CREWS THE CLASH tee from Walker Field House ... though now my daughter wears it, as I have ... ummmm ... grown?
My road trips are generally a combination of something that I am listening to on Audible, podcasts, and music. I have a bunch of playlists that I rotate, depending on my mood: Karen's Old Stuff (mostly '70's stuff), Karen's Fun Stuff (more '80's with other stuff thrown in- more energetic, great to sing along to as long as there is no one there to hear me), and a couple that are pure energy, mostly there to make me pick up the pace when I am doing housework, but also good when the ride gets dull.
Then, of course, Sirius XM ('70's, '80's, Yacht Rock, Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl) ... and news stations.
I live in the South now ... as much as I love living here, local radio is GOD AWFUL.

Bobby Goldsboro Honey! My favorite all time song....
Didn’t know that was the name of the song, read it as though you were answering AZ & calling him “Honey” and I just found that adorable. 😂🧡
Please, Google the song 'Honey' which is so beautiful that it makes me cry every time I hear it. Bobby Goldsboro's sweet voice makes it even more beautiful!
No single songs, but on a long road trip will do either albums by The Eagles or Steely Dan.
Concur Eagles
Alia, they are the best. Saw them in concert this year, with Vince Gill doing lead vocals.

Great list but, no Allman Brothers?

"Let Me Roll It". Wings
actually to me the whole "Band on the Run" album is one song.
Jimmy Buffett's "Fruitcakes" . . . .

So here's the rewrite that's Minnesota focused... so here goes...
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
I was tot'in' my pack along the snowy Minnesota road…
When along came a semi with a fresh carnivorous load…
"If you're goin' to Minneapolis, Mac, with me you can ride"…
And so I climbed into the cab, and then I settled down inside…
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much ice and snow…
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land”…
I've eat'n everywhere, man
I've eat'n everything, man
I've eat'n de-sserts bare, man
I've chewed the mountain air, man
Of travel I've had my share, man
I've eaten everywhere…
I've eat'n in Twin Cities, Brew City, Motor City,
Sun City, Sin City, Culver City, Ocean City,
Atlantic City, Tallahassee, Tuscaloosa,
Talladega, Lackawanna, Tijuana, Oneida,
Bradenton, Tuskegee, Biloxi, Philly, makes me giddy…
I've eat'n in Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Modesto
Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota, Wichita,
Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma, Tampa, Panama,
Mattawa, La Paloma, Bangor, Baltimore, Excelsior,
Amarillo, Tocapillo, Baranquilla, and Perdilla, I'm a eater…
I've eat'n everywhere, man
I've eat'n everything, man…
When it comes to the string of cities, I've added 8 more groups of cities... if you or your subscriber's would be interested, feel free reachout....
Interesting story Simone... "Wir fahr'n fahr'n fahr'n auf der Autobahn." was a cool comeback, perhaps throw in some ABBA???
