How could anyone dislike you that doesn't personally know you!? And why bother following someone just to hate? That's twisted. Everything has become everyone's business, very loudly, in this social media world we've become. I'm proud you rise above it. The hard knocks you've experienced would probably teach some others a great deal, sadly. OK, well, I'm going to the market to hoard all the pig I can fit in my freezer. Good grief.

Wow. That was a lot packed in 12 minutes! And indeed sad & scary. 1st!!! Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary. It’s one of the many reasons I admire you, how freely you share your story to raise awareness & reach people. And yes, as a country we do not do nearly enough to help those struggling with mental or health issues that are uncomfortable to talk about. We have lots of generic words to button things up nicely. Like “natural causes”. I am a person living with cancer. It took me a while, but now I talk about it openly in the hopes of spreading awareness and maybe even prevention & esp to help raise funding to just end it! (Cancer…not life) I know several people in my situation who have not found outlets, or ways to cope…(mine is cooking) and I see their mental health take a beating. If they ended their life tomorrow, or made bad decisions in their altered state that led to death…it would be labeled “complications from cancer”. Today I was told a story of someone who tried to kill himself on the highway. First by trying to hit a semi, driving against traffic, and finally laying naked on the road hoping to be hit. This is not an institutionalized person..just someone who became lost along the way…and it’s been on my mind all day. Does he have people? What brought him to this point? Sorry…digressing, but just so many questions. This world is so crazy right now. You talk about the underserved…was he? I believe he survived, & hopefully will get the proper care. I’m rambling..1 last thought. I am a carnivore happily living primarily vegetarian…(well maybe pescatarian) primarily due to everything you just spoke of about ASF & other viruses. I’m hyper aware of virus & bacteria’s that effect our food. My life depends on it. Thx for opening that discussion…we shouldn’t have to “ wonder “ if our food is safe! Stay safe & warm.

COVID is one reason why I'm so glad my wife got a job as a chef at a university. We've weathered the storm that saw so many chefs unemployed or leave the industry. I had to stay at a job I hated as it was income and the last two years that has mattered a lot.

Thank you chef for sharing this. Here in North Carolina we have a large pork industry, and NCSU's ag dept is likely keeping an eye on this issue.

My daughter is in recovery. Again. After having several years of sobriety she relapsed when the pandemic caused her NA meeting and support circle not to meet. Kevin Doran from KMSP did a story about the critical importance of seeing each other, touch, in recovery. Addicts and alcoholics need support. The virtual meetings were not successful. I wish I could say that things are going well, they're not. Every day is a struggle for my daughter.

Keep talking about this subject. I'm sad for the family and friends of the TB man who died.
