Seeing RHPS at a midnight showing with a theater full of folks with all the props ready to go was the best experience in my early 20s. Paradise by the Dashboard lights was my top favorite. Like you, I didn't agree with his politics, but his music was BAD ASS!

Need to try you G-Ma recipe for sure. Thanks for sharing!

Oh & that meatloaf looks pretty tasty! Great comfort food for this -4 degree day. I make meatloaf for the leftovers. Meatloaf sandwich could turn a day around.

Oy, I can't get over your beard...but that's for another day....40 years ago a touring group of 17 year old kids from Israel came thru the cities and were housed by families with 17 year olds. We housed one for 3 weeks and one of the activities which all the kids attended and all the host families attended was a RHPS at the Uptown at Midnight. There were kids in costumes, knit stockings, there was throwing of rice and singing along. It was one big party. It was so much fun. If someone asks you if you ever saw RHPS you have to know if they mean a midnight showing, because that is totally a different experience than just seeing the movie.

Also have fond memories of the midnight show of RHPS in Harvard Square when they still had a movie theatre. Really fun.

A very underrated food, the meatloaf. Grandma’s recipe looks awesome. My late mother’s was similar, just no spinach, but she added a big glug of Worcestershire sauce.

The Waverly Theatre on 6th Ave was where they held the cult following of Rocky Horror Picture Show. It’s now the IFC Cinema

Great commentary on RHPS. I missed that craze by about 8 years or so. Still have not seen the movie. On my bucket list. I do have the Bat out of Hell album though. Great stuff.

I always find it interesting how many variations of meatload there are. I always try my friends(and their Moms) to see who is best. Some are like a giant hamburger others full of veggies. IT is usually beef but I prefer beef/pork combo. I see you use tomato paste for the topping, others ketchup. I use chili sauce(old german recipe). I have even seen gravy. Sometimes I mix it up with bacon on top or in it. Vegetables vary on season but onions and celery are a staple. This can be a great dish or a dud but you can definitely add your own creative twist.

Was taken blindly to RHPS. I think maybe at Aragon Ballroom? In Chi. Or a similar spot. My date had in his pocket..toast, rice, cards, rubber gloves….he was showing me and I thought what kind of kinky s#%¥ is this guy into? Started looking for an exit. 😂

What a freikin blast it was to see it for the 1st time with zero idea what was about to happen in the theater!

Bat out of Hell was a part of the soundtrack of my youth! On the day Meatloaf died my high school peeps text thread blew up!! Full of stories, memories and some of the most fun in our lives. That cassette (yes I said it..cassette) was in someone’s car at all times.

Every wedding of any member of this group..Paradise by the Dashboard Lights…that’s the song that pulls everyone to the floor. 🧡🎶
