Amen to higher prices that benefit workers. SO SICK of America worshipping at the altar of low prices and ignoring the poverty (and cruelty, in the case of meat) that it creates.

Applause, Applause & a standing O!! Stellar summation... All the initiatives you touched on are the issues I too, as a culinarian, totally endorse, promote and support. You nailed those organizations, the 'good-doers' to tackle these issues which have been ignored, disregarded, minimized and brushed aside for 20 to 30 years, finally come to the forefront... they're vital to the planet, thus mankind...

The truly sad side is that it's way overdue... Why is it that these issue only surface years after the need was recognized??? Shame on us as humans who've been trashing our precious natural resources from every aspect, such a pity...

The IRC, Brigaid, Fed by Blue and those types of organizations are waking the world up and moving mountain that most thought were unmoveable, Bra-O, Brav-O!!! It shouldn't take a state of crisis for people react, then act on those issues... When it comes to making people aware, my grandpa had a great saying, "Sometimes you need to put a thumbtack in with a sledgehammer". This is one of those times that needs a multidimensional strategic sledgehammer... Optimizing the oceans, lands, along with minimizing waste, preferably eliminate, the inefficiencies of the world we all live in...

As for vegetables, huge YEAH to the local urban and suburban gardeners!!! I got into to that about 3-4 years ago. Now you go to a farmers market, where there use to be 8 to 10 food growers there are 20+ growers, it's wonderful, interesting and a learning experience each time... I've been eating more and more fresh veggies than ever... Better yet, growing my own, I save money, and with all the growers one gets to know, let the 'Bartering' begin... trading what you grow for what others grow is a gas, and in a way one gets a variety of produce and in a way it's free...

As a mainly pescatarian, I'm a huge fan of Fed By Blue and similar initiatives and organizations. Sustainability is going to continue to make grand strides going forward, which should be fascinating...

It's fantastic, and about time, the deserving culinarians heros are standing-up and being counted, gotta luv'it...!!! I wish I knew if the world will survive, the efforts are grand, chemical companies are the real adversaries and nemeses. Yet I believe, if the global communities, both humanitarian and industrial can truly unite, the world can solves many of these issues that plague society today...

A Toast, to the New Year & an Environmentally expanding consciousness, Cheers!!!

One good thing, post pandemic, in my lil town is the shift people made to support local restaurants. And to see the postings morph from “where’s the cheapest?” To “ who do you recommend for the best?” And $ is rarely a talking point any more. Additionally, the reception new businesses have been getting into the community…we just had a new Indian restaurant open, a big void …the chatter, as well as business they have received since opening is so encouraging.

Interesting info about Brigaid, never heard of them. But a monumental task! Been looking at senior housing lately, what places claim to be nutritious meals….far from it!

I lean more towards seafood than any other protein, and navigating sustainable, healthy, and honorable providers, should not be so difficult. Love the work Fed by Blue does.

Still so much work to do…there are still folks who continue to buy their sodas, cigarettes, chips, coffee, etc. regardless of price, but will fight you if the price of carrots or beef increases.
