An awesome “food movie” is the French film “Vatel” with Gérard Depardieu. It’s the true story of François Vatel a famous chef who in 1671 was commissioned by a prince to produce a massive 3 day food and festivities event for King Louis XIV. Incredible true story with food to titillate the senses!

This is more like a comment about taking a cooking class from you many many years ago at Cooks of Crocus Hill in St. Paul. The class was based on the film, "Thge Big Night". I came very early all gussied up in my white chef's coat ready to cook. Well, when I arrived you told me it was an observation class. You recognizedly my disappointment. You asked if I was comfortgable in the kitchen and when I said yes you gave me the job of stirring the risotto for about what seemed like an hour.....but, I got to stand at your elbow, watch and listen to you up close. I'll never forget that evening, obviously. Thank you Andrew. Stubeee

I love this story! I would die if I ever had the chance to do that. My fave chefs are Zimmern, Andres, and obviously Bourdain because they've done more than anyone to introduce the foods and cultures of the world to people's homes. And not just be TV celebrities, but also quietly help to stamp out childhood hunger, feed global disaster workers, and on and on. They're my Holy Trinity!

Chef!! You have no idea, what an honor it is that you used my question to kick off your AMA. I'm so chuffed and now for sure the next movie I'll watch will be Babette's Feast, which I haven't seen yet. Your other choices in your top 3 - I cannot argue whatsoever, absolutely iconic. I would watch Stanley Tucci in pretty much anything he's involved in. 100% also on Lotus of Siam in Vegas - I don't care what anyone else says!!

"Eat, Drink, Man Women" is not just a film with very good cooking scenes, especially the introduction to the film, but, it also has a life lesson. stu b

I had forgotten about this one! I did see it but it was almost 30 years ago when it first in the theaters, and reading the description I do recall that I really loved it. I see it is free on Tubi, so definitely will rewatch soon. Thanks Stu for the reminder!

It is about a daughter who gives up her life in order to fulfill her expectation of being the dutiful daughter. As it turned out her sacrafice was not needed. Arthur Miller used the same theam in his play, "The Price".

As we escape the Matrix, my prayer

is for all of us to use our passion, knowledge

and learned skills to teach this next generation

how to love “ real food “. I had a grandma

that showed me how to cook. She came

through the depression. Nothing was wasted

and every bowl scraped, sometimes to

lick the spoon too😊 Leave the drive

through in the rear view mirror.!
